He fell asleep while doing 56 on a road where he was only permitted to be travelling at 50 in his big truck, then gets stuck on again for dangerous driving while on court bail for 2 counts of death by dangerous.
Whether he just fell asleep or was deliberately being a fit matters not - he's a menace.
"Mitigating, Palmer's defence team said the "devoted" father of one had no previous convictions and he was aware the deaths had "blighted the lives of two families" and that he had struggled with the "enormity of what he had done".
So much so that he went and committed another serious motoring offence while struggling with the enormity of what he had done due to the first offence!
And sent 150 texts in the hours before he killed two people, lied to the police and falsified his work record time sheets. Remorse affects people in strange ways.
Meanwhile, down under Driver Michael Lee McCulloch found guilty over cyclist’s death
"A RANELAGH man who claimed he was blinded by the sun seconds before fatally running down a cyclist on the Channel Highway last year has been found guilty of causing death by negligent driving.
Michael Lee McCulloch, 50, had pleaded not guilty in the Hobart Magistrates Court after the death of Pelverata man Craig Saunders, 57, on the road between Huonville and Cygnet on the morning of August 5 last year.
In finding McCulloch guilty this afternoon after two days of evidence, Deputy Chief Magistrate Michael Daly said Mr Saunders and his riding partner – who were wearing high-visibility clothing – ought to have been visible to the ordinary, prudent driver."
There is no doubt that this driver would sell his own mother if he could get off. You would think after killing 2 men any normal person would seriously take stock of their actions. But he didn't and I doubt if he ever will.
