Lorry drivers at a major London construction project in London are being advised/warned that cyclists wear cameras. I suppose this is a good thing as it makes them aware that bad driving will have repercussions. The fact that the management feel the need to tell them this isn't quite so good.

Should they not mention the motorbikes, cars and other commercial vehicles fitted with cameras.

One day all vehicles will have cameras. The next step is each vehicle will have an ANPR camera that feeds intelligence to the police.

One day the police will know where every illegal driver is at all times.

I can dream....

Perhaps, the number of cyclists that use cameras in London is much larger than any other group.

It's also probably downtown the fact that we are vulnerable and it's probably been used in a way to make drivers think a bit more around cyclists and keep us safe.
Videos are not only damaging for the driver but also the company.

Not London, but... this morning I was cut up by a bus stopping just after overtaking. A bit miffed but nothing to make a fuss about in the Big Scheme, I contented myself with pulling an unhappy face at him as I passed. Next stop he did exactly the same thing. I pulled over and approached his window:

ME: You do realise that you are not supposed to overtake when you are just about to pull over, don't you?

HIM: You what mate?

ME: That's the second time you've cut right in front of me in two stops. You're a professional driver and should be able to plan ahead better than that.

HIM: Listen you ... [pause] ... Err yeah boss, you're right. Sure boss.

I like to think he had a Damascus moment. I suspect though that he spotted the MUVI under my helmet peak.

Maybe because cyclists are more vulnerable they are more likely to complain.

It's also that the large numbers of cyclists in London tend to be yuppies, with good technology knowledge, education, and access to the internet to share experiences. This, combined with the huge motivation bad driving gives cyclists to fight back, makes us all a killer campaigning group with a huge amount of influence.

It threatens a serious change to the way people drive, and we are on the cusp of it, and the cause of it. It's a game changer...
