Lose your licence speeding and you’re just a kid again

If it stops some twunt killing someone speeding, I don't care. Those posters get the message home, IMO, but I'd love to see some evaluation of the campaign.

I'd like to think that cyclists do have a child like quality that is positive. Think about what it means to be a kid; no responsibilities, have to go to school every day and learn something new, lots of playtime. Three square meals that someone else cooks. A few light chores. I'd be quite happy to be a child again.

I'm not over impressed with the poster but if it saves just one life or serious injury by deterring speeding it's fine by me.

I've just looked at the poster... I was expecting it to be showing a child on a bike (i.e can't have a car) but it doesn't, it shows them holding a play camera... errrrm, I don't get it.

Can someone explan why losing you license due to being caught speeding by a camera leads you to play with a toy camera, please?

As an aside, MK, you missed another great track do. Hope the play lived up to all your expectations.

So, am I being over-sensitive, or is this adding to the idea that people who do not choose a car as their primary vehicle are simply child like?

http://www.lscp.org.uk/downloads/Kid_Again_poster.pdf (PDF and i can't be arsed to extract as jpg).

This really does seem to imply that if you do not drive you are a child

No it doesn't. It implied that for people who overly rely on a car that loosing the ability to drive will make them very self reliant on other people, much like when they were a child.

I'm sure a poster saying "Don't worry if you get caught speeding....there are plenty of other methods to get around" wouldn't have the same effect.

+1

Bear in mind the campaign here is really aimed at motorists and sadly we are in a car dominated culture where the majority of people wouldn't even think of alternatives to the car.

This is just pitched at motorists with a maximal impact message to stop the speeding so doesn't really reflect on others choice of mode of transport

I would however suggest that running the campaign at the same time as "Catch up with the bike" is not quite a masterpiece of timing

Call me skeptical but coordinated working even within the same organisation and department doesn't always happen!!

Another crap advert from the government.

They just seem to use the stick approach.

I liked the Australian ads that showed women thinking the guy had a small cock if he sped around. Many places have a mentality where it is cool to be laid back and drive slowly so the peds can see your wheels. They should promote driving more slowly in this way rather than just threatening to take licences.

So we need to promote those big shiney spinning rims to stop speeding?

I'm sold
