Lost in the Lakes

A very touching episode (series 2:1) of the Lost in the Lakes programme.

A cycling medal was found, which had been lost before the war and was reunited with the cyclists nephew.

Struck a chord with me, as the cyclist was the same age as my dad, who also raced before the war and I have some very similar medals from the same era.

What happened to the owner of the medal?

The original owner of the medal, was born in 1920. Returned after the war and lived happily in the UK until he passed.

That episode got to me too. Seeing that medal returned was so moving. It's wonderful you have those similar medals from your dad real, tangible pieces of history. A lovely connection.
