Shame its name sounds like an STD.

Quaint place. Academia was significant.
Was responsible for a business unit there.
All to do with plant growth research. Mostly not getting the kit nicked or getting involved with hobby herb growers. The two were related.

Abiding memory of the pea soup and apple pie in the canteen. Never got the taste for kernmelk though.
Then there was the Holiday Inn which smelt of chlorine, from the pool, throughout the place.

Was there for a few days in the summer, lovely city. Great vibe, safe and vibrant

I believe it's ooh-trecht but most Brits say you-trecht I should think.
I did a lap round the underground cycle parking at the train station last year, which kept me entertained! The centre is pretty too.

😂 Have done the same! Just for the wonder of it.

On a group tour one year, we had a rest day in Bunnik (just outside) and spent the day exploring Utrecht.

One would think, that as we had our bicycles with us, we had the perfect tools for exploring the city. Except a hubby and wife couple, insisted we should hire a 4 person pedalo.

Me and another were the designated pedallers. Both of us tall with long legs. Every pedal broke resulted in our knees touching our chest and our shins catching the pedalo body. Meanwhile, the couple in the back pointed out all the sights we missed as we cursed them through our teeth. 😡

My sister lives a few miles from Utrecht so will be tickled pink to see the place is now famous.

We were staying in a hotel in the suburbs earlier this year when my wife fell over and broke her wrist. The staff at the UMC hospital were excellent :bravo:

Absolutely love Utrecht and will forever bitterly resent msome more successful friends who moved there in their '20s when house prices were still silly low...
