After criticizing others on here for being too aggresive with drivers etc etc I flipped a bit after a crazy dangerous overtake that involved me braking and sweving into the gutter to keep out from under the wheels of a car.

As the car sweved almost into me to avoid oncoming traffic I shouted down "You "reproducing Richard" (to put it in politically correct format :-) )

Due to warm weather and windows open the car screached to a halt in front of me and the passenger got out and starts giving verball seeing crazed expression in my eyes he got back in and they wheel span away up the hill.(Lucky for me I think).

Its difficult but I really dont want to have to relearn rusty boxing skills not practiced for 25 years so need to keep gob closed in future. :-(

Weird isn't it? You can be doing nothing wrong one second and the next you find yourself having to make split-second decisions about whether to react / what to say or do... It's not easy. Glad you came out of it in one piece - that's the main thing. Live to commute another day, and all that.

What’s wrong with swearing a little when you have a close one – sounds like perfectly reasonable behaviour to me... get it off your chest and all that.
re car stopping and passenger getting out and threatening you…well, I’m not encouraging it, but I wouldn’t hold it against you if you decked the tw@t...

I had someone move from middle lane into my path without indicating this morning when I was @30+...(big hill) and then look bemused when I gave him a rollicking at the junction at the bottom while simultaneously having palpitations. Accidents happen, but at least I was in the right. He did give me a really wide berth at the next roundabout, so every shout was worth it.

A couple of times this week people have pulled in to the kerb and stopped in front of me causing me to brake, but not any great danger, but its the lack of thought that counts and it shows that to the driver doing it that I was invisable!! The last one to do it was a Cabbie outside his office and when I tapped on his rear window it was obvious that he had never seen me before!!

I actualy berate my self for not throwing a wobbly and having a go at him!!!

I guess I have to get a real fright before I do that, as that gets the adrenaline going doesnt it.

It's difficult sometimes to keep your cool especially as some car drivers seem to be aggresive to cyclists as a sport.

On an open road last week - no-one else around a Porche drove past me at an incredible speed and he must have been a couple of millimetres away from hitting me. I felt really cross but sometimes it's better just to carry on and ignore it, doesn't mean it's wrong to scream and shout if you want to though!!

I have to be careful anyway - last winter a bus cut me up and as I gave the driver a friendly two fingered 'thanks very much' I hit a patch of ice and, having one hand off the bars and waving around, I fell off!!....;)
