Always been against it, couldn't understand people doing it until today, out for a ride & on the way back came to a humpback bridge that the Elves with their safety laws have decided needs to now have lights. So Aluminium bike made sure I rode over both of the sensor coils in the road & stops at the line. Wait 1 minute, wait 2 minute, wait 3 minutes, looks behind still no cars coming, so I turned around & rode back over the coils, turned around & back to the line. Wait 1 minute, wait 2 minutes, oh bugger this, so slowly went through the lights & onto the bridge, nothing was coming so I crossed, I was a further 2 miles down the road before the first car overtook me. So I figure that I would have been waiting at least 15 minutes waiting for a car to tigger the lights if I had decided not to cross, I know it was illegal but what would others have done?

Same as you. Gone through on red.

Probably the same as you but without the second go at the sensors.
If you wanted to stay legal you could always have got off and pushed it across as a pedestrian.

If you want a really, really, really, really, really boring answer then the standard advise from the police around these parts is you should wait four minutes before proceeding on an apparently broken or non-triggering light. Reading your response in a literalistic fashion, you actually waited longer than this.
