It's genuine, the shock wave is transmitted through the wine and literally hammers the cork out from the inside. The shoe stops the bottle breaking on the wall.

I have removed a cork by smacking the bottom of the bottle (like he demonstrated at first). Obviously wrong.
Two of us took turns to hit the bottom of the bottle with the heel of our hand. The cork was removed - but next day you are sure that your hand was run over by a bus.
It's an old trick, often used in the perpetuation of frauds. One of the reasons that if you are in a restaurant the waiter should remove the foil cap at your table.
