Lots of kids on Racers all of a sudden!

My son's club went from exclusively MTB to having 10+ road racers in the course of this season. They love the speed and the bunch riding.

It doesn't hurt that Scottish Cycling are doing a brilliant job of encouraging kids in to road racing and that we have an exceptional coach...

It doesn't seem to have filtered down to my neck of the woods yet. Most kids and adults are on BMX's or bastardised MTB's

Over the summer in both Portsmouth and Southampton I have noticed a good few young men with skinny jeans and moustaches and hipster stripey t-shirts on shabby-chic fixies with drop bars. There are even so-this-season cycle shops now selling the aforementioned contraptions at vastly inflated prices. I'm afraid that my MTB and hybrid are just so uncool.

My son was at Calshott yesterday and had a few laps in the velodrome ....................... Dad's not very jealous at all
