Loud car exhausts (and a general rant about boy racers).

Unfortunately, there is no evidence that DRLs have any positive impact on accddent rates whatsoever in Northern Europe. Another EU good idea foisted upon us in the name of safety with no actual science behind it.

No-one ever pulled out in front of my Ducati (fitted with nice Termignonis).
Musta been cos it was red.

I dislike the side lights and 'fog lights' combination as a high kerb or crash barrier can make a car all but invisible on the approach to a junction / roundabout as the lights are now too low and view blocked by road furniture.
I didn't think that was a legal combination. On the Skoda it's not even possible as the light switch has to be all the way over to main beams before it can be pulled out for the fog lights.

I know our SEAT that's the case for the rear fogs, we didn't have front fogs so I don't know.
On our Kia it's possible, not sure why you'd do it as the amount of light put out is a bit crap.

You're probably right (both VAG group cars). Come to think of it I'm not sure the Roomster even has front fogs. Not having a commute I rarely drive in conditions that warrant it, plus its mostly my wifes car. It's only recently (after having it 18 months) I discovered the switch actually did pull out

As a point of order, VAG are not the manufacturer but were the official UK importer which ceased trading over 20 years ago. The manufacturer is VW Group, or VWAG in Germany, and have never been called VAG, which is an unfortunate slang term for a ladies bits.

While technically derailing the direction the thread has taken, I used to have my beer fuelled weekend lie-ins ruined by one of the neighbour's kids who had decided to replace his exhaust with something resembling an aluminum pringles tube. Just imagine my joy when one Sunday I woke up in a natural manner and looked out of the window to see the mangled wreckage of a BMW 3 series convertible strewn on the green out the front of my house.

I live in a short street and they seem to delight in turning into it, then foot to the floor for all of the 200 yard length of the street without changing out of first gear, before an emergency stop at the give way.
You can only do that so many times before the engine/clutch/tyres etc. etc. are knackered. One of my childhood friends turned into a bit of a boy racer, and needed a complete new set of cam-followers after not many months of ragging it around town. Fortunately that means many boy racers will run out of money before they run out of the desire to behave in an antisocial manner.

The Stinger worked well then?

I bought a Honda Fireblade many moons ago that had a fearsome exhaust fitted, people ran for cover when they heard me coming.

It drew too much attention so was duly changed to a less offensive Akropovic

If folks eyes are that bad they need to drive with front fogs on they should have their licences taken away.

If folks eyesight is so bad they have to drive in well lit towns with their dipped headlights on they should have their licenses taken away.
