I'm in the market for a new hub. (seem to be spending a fortune on the bike this month, new block, new chain, new hub, new pump, new lid....when does it stop!!!)

I fancy a really loud clackity one.

any suggestions?

I thought they might assist with general awareness...is it awfully passée? I'm a bit of a fashion victim so can be easily discouraged on this point.

I'm so fickle.

Which reminds me of the quote "I'm a man of principles, but if you don't like them I have loads more"

Hope. Loud and proud. ^_^ Great for shared use paths.
Superstar Hubs can be nicely noisy. My Superleggeras sound like a jar of wasps.

Get a quiet hub. Then if you want noise fasten a lollipop stick to your seat stays so it runs against the spokes.

That brings back memories!

A guy I know had a wheel with a Hope hub. Being used to Shimano, he thought it annoyingly noisy, and asked if I could make it run more quietly. I tried some thick grease, but it made no difference.
His response? "Well, eck, Ah dinnae want it, just you keep the f*ing thing."
It's even noisier than my Campag hubs. I love it.

I absolutely hate club riders that turn up with loud freehubs - ruins my weekend ride!
They tend to be the same people that 'stop and start' with the pedalling stroke too - bastards!
And I'm not joking - it really annoys me that much. They shouldn't be allowed on social rides.

I reckon you can hear my Fulcrum one at 100 paces. It's great for moving animals out of the way on country lanes. I like the sound of it.
