Out on their bikes this morning. About a thousand of them, heading from Mildmay towards Shoreditch. It was an organized event of some sort, and it made me rather late getting to where I was going, but that was because I stayed to watch and cheer the little uns on.

There were also big uns riding with the little uns - recumbents, tandems, penny farthings. It all really put a smile on my face.

Don't think I've ever seen such a big variety of bikes, from nice ones to ok ones to steel tanks and bikes made of cheese. Didn't see a single Wiggo bike though, which warmed the cockles of *my* heart. It's nice to ride something a bit more unusual.

Downside was a lot of people muttering about the road closures and the general inconvenience to their lives, to which I said that it was lovely to see so many kids out riding and enjoying their bikes rather than being stuck inside instead. I'd have loved to join them, it looked like a heck of a lot of fun. :bicycle:

Fantastic to see, especially that they were riding on roads rather than just round a park. Show kids cycling is more fun, healthier and better than being driven.

I've said it before but mini-KB is the only one that does to school by bike (or in the trailer). It is gratifying to hear all the kids saying they want to go on bike rather than in the boring car!
