Mushroom microdosing is the practice of ingesting a very low, "sub-perceptual" dose of psilocybin-containing mushrooms on a regular schedule, with anecdotal reports claiming benefits such as improved mood, creativity, and focus.

As of 2025 all psilocybin-containing mushrooms, fresh or dried, are illegal to possess, cultivate, or sell in the UK. I don't know how the brewery would get around that.

The UK ones don't contain any psilocybin at all and use a blend of other non psychedelic fungi , usually Lion's Mane and Ashwagandha etc.

Yes, I've definitely seen those mentioned in some ads.

Best case they might have some legit therpeutic value, worst case the product's balls and they're just cynically trading off a false implied association with psychedelics (using terms such as microdosing, for example).

I think the "buzz" is mainly placebo effect. You've paid twice as much as a regular AF IPA for it so you expect to feel the buzz and be able to justify why you overpaid for the marketing hype.
