I commute 20+ miles a day. I am using muk-off dry lube and it isn't lasting more than 2 days (when dry). Any ideas on what I can use? I also use the bike on my days off for 50 mile cycles and tend to clean it once every 10 days (how my work pattern is).
Don't really mind wet or dry as I like to clean my bike so I shouldn't get much crap build up.
I'm concerned that your current lube is lasting for 2 days (50 miles) of dry use. In my cycle-commuting days I was getting weeks at 150 miles a week out of a chain lube - and I thought I was being a bit OTT about cleaning and lubing.
Which one to use? I use whatever is cheap at the time. I've been through gazillions of brands over the decades and don't have a favourite.
I think that if you're only getting 50 miles out of a lube job, there may be an issue other than the brand you're using.
What tells you it's all gone? Does it get noisy? Does it feel gritty? Do you get slower?
I can't really see from visual inspection when I need to lube, as I am a keen and vigorous wiper-cleaner of my chain after giving it some attention. The only bits I want to have lube on them are the bits I can't see.
I hope you find your solution (ha ha ha) but I fear there may be another reason why you're having to lube so often. Not the brand.
