A better road position is key in this situation, the entry to the roundabout is on a bed and road users coming up to the roundabout will often focus on what is on the roundabout already rather than what is in front of them.

This is why it is key not to talk to desk jockeys about what happened. Just get the relevant forms, fill them out and get the people that should make the decisions about what is worth taking further action on and what is not to actually look at it.

Should have been prosecuted for careless driving, 6 points on the license and a fine.

I read in one of the comments that it turned out that the driver wasnt insured. If this isnt a reason to prosecute then what is?

I got rear-ended at a t-junction last Wednesday. It was a straight road, I was in primary, I'd been stopped for a good few seconds, was wearing a reflective yellow jacket, had lights...etc and he still didn't see me.

Thankfully he was going much slower than the driver in the above video.

Touch wood I've only been rear ended once and at slow speed; getting pushed towards the van in front was a bit concerning :eek: When I managed to turn round the driver was fidgeting with something in her passenger glove compartment :ohmy:

What do suggest Gaz?

FWIW I know the r'about very well. In fact, that's on one of the bod's commutes that posts here (forget his name).

Roundabouts - agghh. More difficult when the exit / entry joins a motorway.

To me it looks like he stopped way too close to the left hand side of the roundabout. I would personally have taken a stronger lane position from where the video starts and kept it. This I think is key, not only to control your lane but also because the entry to the roundabout is on a curve and he may well have been hidden from view of a driver who was probably also looking at what was on the roundabout to their right and not what was stopped in front of them.

Admittedly I don't know the road at all, so i'm just basing this opinion on what I can see in the video. I have no understanding of traffic flows for it etc..

The cyclist seems a bit of a plonker in all honesty. He practically apologises to the woman for being in the way of her vehicle. She is a porker though. People have forward facing head cams but should also have a rear facing camera like what Gaz has which would have recorded the terrible driving of this woman crashing into the cyclist if indeed it was the fat woman who in the silver people carrier who stops and gets out with her kids to offer help. No wonder the cops decided not to do anything as the cyclist shrugs being knocked off as a very minor inconvenience.

scary, had this happen to us in a car, can't imagine on my bike.
also 0.58 - bewbs!
i'd say tho on this vid he was quite far to the left and the road curves left, is it possible he was partially hidden from view? if he was out near the centre line he'd prolly have been seen i ALWAYS take primary on RAB's because they're bloody 'orrible.

That fella is me :smile: I've learnt a lot since this incident (it was around 6 months ago) and am definitely more confident in my road positioning and style.

MrGrumpy commutes over this RAB and will attest to it's poor layout.

@Crankarm can't all afford two cameras mate, and i'd only recently bought that one! but when i buy a new camera i'll use that as a rear. I can't help my response given that i was in considerable pain and shock when i spoke to the driver. We can't all predict how we'd react to a situation and i don't think you can say how you would react in this situation until you are in it!

It's a tricky one, the approach to this RAB is quite a hill so i used to be tentative about taking primary (not any more) and whilst this road does curve to the left slightly, as others on YouTube have mentioned it is by no means poor visibility!
