Lump on "me nads" OMG

Popped into the shower this morning after walking the dogs and was soaping over when I noticed a lump on my scrotum.
First thing that entered my mind was the big 'C' - testicular cancer?
Its about the size of a small pea but not actually on the testicle but under the skin. So I am hoping its nothing too serious, but just to check I went to the cancer research site and looked up the symptoms
  1. Backache - yes although I have always put that down to sitting at a PC all day :becool:
  2. Cough - yes I have had a cough now for a few months which I cant shift, nothing bad just an irritating cough
  3. Swollen chest (MOOBS)- yes thats just because I am a fat git who needs to shed afew pounds
So I'm now into hypercondriac mode
The only thing that is different is I have started to use my Turbo trainer but havent been wearing padded shorts - but they have only been 30min sessions
Anyone else had similar, could it be a heat lump?

Sounds like the infected follicles I had recently, in a similar place. Antibiotics sorted that out.
Get thee to the medics to be sure. The sooner you get it checked out, the happier you'll feel.

I noticed a similar lump in the same region 30 years ago - have never had it looked at and it's still there - slightly larger but no problem.

In other words it's probably a harmless growth - but I'd pop into the Doc's just to make sure.

I hate my doctor though!
I am no racist but he/she (husband and wife docs) are both arrogant and incomprehensible and all they ever seem to do is send you to the A&E dept where the nurses always seem to moan "oh your one of Dr I####'s - don't they do anything?"

Speaking as a semi qualified 'emerging-professional' (student radiographer with an interest in ultrasound and it's use in screening for male cancers) if it were a tumour it would most likely feel rough, knobbly or otherwise unpleasant. If it's smooth it's more likely to be a benign cyst, which most men have to some extent, or a varicocele in the blood vessel.
But get yourself to your GP to get checked out, if you're lucky you may be referred to one of my colleagues who'll rub some cold jelly on your nuts.

Friend of mine at school had two large but benign cysts in his scrotum... as well as the usual complement of gonads.
This was in the seventies when a certain german car maker was beginning to popularise four wheel drive.......Inevitably we called him "Quattro".

Seriosuly though, get thee to a doctor, however unpleasant.

Go and see a doctor and get a proper medical opinion. If you don't like your GP you are at liberty to change practice - if you are UK-based.

NHS: how do I change my GP

Hope this helps.

Yeh, Dr.Ishaq, I know him well. F*ck the useless doctor and go to A&E to get it checked out. Some GPs are useless twunts only good for scribbling prescriptions for pills and potions.

lifeson, Old Bean, ignore all advice kindly given on the web, and do not self-diagnose on medical sites. Just go and see a GP, and do not put it off.

A few years ago, I thought I had some kind of similar lump, and mentioned it to my wife. After much pestering, I went for an appointment at my GP, and explained the situation. Well, I was expecting some kind of bit of paper so I could visit a specialist clinic at the local hospital. My attractive female GP just asked me to get my kit off. In a panic, I explained that embarassment and fear would probably mean that the "bits" would probably retreat, big-time, into my body, and there would be nothing for her to examine. She reassured me that this would not be the case, and did a brief examination. A minute later, she explained why minor small lumps were no cause for concern, and that I was perfectly OK. I walked out into the sunshine...

Just see a GP, and best wishes.
