I hear you. When I first moved to the UK (from Northcote!), I remember chatting casually to a colleague; "One thing I like about the UK: running in the long grass in Richmond Park in summer in shorts. No snakes to worry about." "Lyme disease" she replied.

Last illusions destroyed when I huge spider (nearly as big as a huntman) ran across my living room carpet.
