Is that a 100 in 8, 9 or 10?

i tend to stop the garmin when i pull over for a drink or a banana

.or programme it to do so automatically.

Well done on the ride - you have certainly achieved the status you wanted.

As for stopping - have a look at many of the big rides and they have checkpoints, tea stops, and in the case of the Isle of Wight Randonnee lots of pubs as well!

All are frequented by cyclists doing the routes and we all conisder that we have completed the ride even if a few cakes, cups of tea and a pint have lubricated the knees!

I beg to differ. :-) I'm very pleased to have done one (102 miles, as it worked out) but have absolutely no desire to repeat the experience!

The metric ton (100k) is a respectable ride (65miles) and would be a more sensible next step.
Agreed, but it is actually 62.2 miles! ;)

I'm with you there Trikeman,115 mile ride in August and would happily wait quite a while before doing that distance again.
Saying that it was a big jump from my previous longest of 68 miles.

I have done a couple - my biggest temptation though is the IoW Randonnee - with detours and the trip there and back it is just over 85 miles

It is sorely tempting to take the long way home and make it the Statute 100 one year..............or have a couple of pints in the Fishbourne Inn instead?

Tough choice, but the tug of the Goddards tends to win

For me, it's all down to fitness. I've been struggling this year and I think the longest ride I've done was about 85 miles which I struggled with. In previous years I've done rides up to 140 hilly miles which felt easier because I was slimmer and fitter then.
