Manchester route advice.

I've a chance at a block booking in Openshaw for 6 months. It's only 3 days a week so I'm thinking about commuting by bike as the job starts at 9ish so going by car is a no-no.

Up to Prestwich is my usual patch and I know it well.

What's the recommendations for Prestwich to Openshaw. I'm thinking Bury Old Rd to the Stockport branch canal on paper but I've no idea what that part of town is like in rush hour. There's also Ashton Rd but I'm guessing that'd be busy at that time.

Turn right at the bottom of sheepfoot and keep going till you get to queens rd. Turn left and keep going and you'll end up openshaw way. Dont have a map to hand but that'll do it. Stick to main roads- the back roads round there are bobs.
