Good article on the MEN website about the filling in (or lack of) potholes in the region, plus read the comments for the usual moronic comments on Road Tax

I reported a particularly troublesome pothole on there and it was attended to within a week and I had a nice personal response from the Chief Hole Filler Innerer General too

Gridlock and trauma has returned to my commute to Bolton along with lots of lovely holes to keep me out from the kerb !

We have a cycle lane right outside my works that has never been great but usable. Now not only that but about 2-3 foot of the road is in a right state and I'm virtually having to ride down the middle of the road

gawd knows how this will be next week at 2pm, it's quiet at 6am coming home this week.

I saw that on the CTC homepage and sent an email to their postbag. I said its amazing - people go out of their way to help others, the cyclists there dont have to report them but most do so out of public interest... yet their commenters moan about taxes and cyclists. It defeats logic.

Perhaps the local cycle campaign can organise a "cyclists drive to work day" just so people can put it all in perspective as one other commenter said.

Does the CTC not have enough cash to perhaps start an advertising campaign to try to dispell these myths once and for all?

Rochdales record doesnt surprise me, there's a road in Castleton which needs totally resurfacing because of neglect over a number of years.
The council have delayed it from last year and still havent done anything.

My first commute this year was yesterday(since the first snowfall last year, shocking I know and my legs are feeling it today!) there wasnt as many more potholes as I expected however there are plenty to begin with.
However with all the extra muck and grit on the road I arrived to work looking as if I'd had a shovel full of slurry thrown at me

They have run poster campaigns in the past for similar cycling myths... it hasnt really done anything to dispell it. It really needs an independent body like the AA to step in, or for national telly to do a program on it and be honest...

...however with programs like Tonight on ITV (who have recently called it "road tax" and talked about motoring as "the most expensive form of travel", not to mention the "beleaguered motorist") this is going to run and run.

I think I know which road you are talking about, Queensway just after Edinburgh Way. Then the crap surface follows on to Manchester Road

Fluffy, Alder rd/Kirklee rd, just behind Castleton CP school.

I cant seem to find the article on Rochdale online where a councillor defends the actions.
Queensway isnt great either.

To anyone that uses Wythenshawe road by the park, great news, they are totally resurfacing a long section of it, not just bodging it like normal. Rode down it today on a 'temporary' surface, nearly had my fillings out

I seem to have had no problems staying out even in rush hour, most motorists seem to understand that the roads are pants for everyone....just watch tonight will be a nightmare !

The trouble is that the majority of reasoning adults already know this.

It is the neanderthals and Clarksons of the world who will not be convinced by any advertising campaign

I'm sure it will be wrecked again by then

In contrast to the decent job being done at Wythenshawe road, the ones outside work have been filled in and just left in a big bumpy uneven state, almost as bad as they were albeit humps rather than holes
