Hi

Hoping for some advice. I haven't bought a bike for a lot of years - I toured around Europe in 2011 on a Ridgeback Voyage Touring Bike which was stolen recently!

I'm looking for something that will be suitable for any future tours, long or short, but that will be used for weekend road riding predominantly. I'm looking at the gravel bikes. It will need to be capable of attaching pannier racks etc and something with a good gear range for hill climbing. The gearing seems to vary so I can't get my head around which is most suitable.

These are the 4 I'm looking at...any thoughts/advice? The Cannondale is a little over my budget but would consider if worthwhile. My previous bike was about £800 and never gave me any problems, ever. I'm trying to work out if i'll see the benefit in spending a bit more.

Thanks!

I have been doing a similar search, not because my bike was stolen but because I can’t decide whether to upgrade my 2014 Genesis CdF, or buy a new bike.

After lots of deliberations, the Cannondale Topstone 105 is best for me, I like, and need, the low gears. The Ultegra version you are considering has wider tyres, which makes it even more appealing to me.

I have only seen the Cannondale live, and except for the miserable colour, it is a lovely bike. One advantage of upgrading is that I can get my Genesis frame painted metallic orange to recreate the bike I had as a teenager! Bright and cheerful.

I had a GT grade which was stolen. It didn't have proper fixings for a rack. Much prefer my Spa Elan.

Are the gears much better for climbs with the cannondale Topstone?

Nearly a grand more should be better. There is a big price range between those bikes. For the top end money on those 4 have a look at the Spa Elan for comparison.
