Long awaited accounts for Gorden Ramsey Holdings filed with Companies House, show that turnover from UK restaurants grew 21% to £38.1m in the year to the end of August 2006. The business made an £816,717 pre-tax profit.

They are not doing too bad imho, not sure about weatherspoons

Just over 2%, doesn't seem like a massive return for such a high turnover, although to be fair I don't know what the industry standard is for catering.

The two holdings companies I just looked at didn't look very healthy! Didn't have time to check his other 27 directorships :-)

Just arrived back from lunch at "Roux at the Landau" for Mrs PK's birthday

Amuse bouche (chorizo pastille)
3 courses of real top quality food
(I had:
Roasted Yellow Onion stuffed with hare black pudding, parsnip foam
Collar of pork with cabbage
Desert of pineapple with coconut pannacotta)
bottle of quality fizzy Water
bottle of wine
petit fours
Coffee

£45 per head plus service

I can spend that much at the local Indian!

Luchtime deals at top restaurants are outstanding value - but being a hotel dining room that value and menu is also available in the evening.

Edit:
just checked the wine price.
Meal without wine or water = £35
With wine £45
Wine society retail price of the same wine = £10.95
So: Bottle of water plus bottle of wine for £20

Last time I was in Weatherspoons in Epsom, I was charged £1.76 for a half of coke

Very very true. I find I am far more to be irritated by how much I spend for medium-quality food in "decent" restaurants. I end up feeling - well, I could have cooked that myself for far less!

I went to L'Atelier d'Edmond in France last week - astounding menu, and it's often the copious amuse-bouches and extra desserts that really stay in your mind.
