Mavic = Spacer ?

Fitted new wheels a month ago (Mavics) (well new to me, 2nd hand) and at the same time fitted a new cassette; there was no play in the cassette, and they did the tour of Flanders and circa 800miles no problem. On the last three rides however, my chain came of the chain ring, I think Ive traced it back to the cassette which now has play! Do Mavic hubs need a 1mm spacer ?

There is a thick spacer that needs to be used if you are not using a mavic cassette, then the usual rule for the one millimeter spacer applies...use it for 10 speed, not used for 8 or 9.

So if you have a shimano 10 speed you will need both.

It's odd that the cassette was originally ok without the spacer and now isn't.

I'd pop on a spacer and see if that cures it - but as the wheel is a Mavic I'd also test to see if the freehub itself is moving.
