I have RS11s on mine and there fine although i was tempted bythe askiums is there any real world difference?

The spokes that come with the Aksium's are some of the nicest I've ever encountered on a wheelset at this price point. They really are very good. And the braking surfaces on the Aksium's are quite superb, for an 'entry level' wheel.

I've come to sort of a decision about some Mavic wheels but just wondered if anyone know's the difference between the Mavic Ksyrium SLS at £710 and the Mavic Ksyrium SLS 700cc 25mm at £711 apart the the second is 50gms lighter?

The older I get, the faster I used to be ...
Are they from the same supplier (Evans)? The 25mm refers to the tyre width, so in theory should be heavier than the other one (default 23mm?)? I would print out the details and compare them carefully - freehub weight can be different - Campag v Shimano. You could ask them.

Mavic have cartridge bearings, Shimano have cup and cone. This means a little more upkeep for the Shimano I suppose. In use, you won't tell the difference. I'd rather have the Shimano, bike shops usually have spare spokes ready to go for them, Mavic, not likely!

Evans don't print the wheels weights so I got the details from CRC and they said 25mm were 50gms lighter so I thought perhaps a newer wheel.. I was looking for Shimano fit as they would be for my new SL 8 Trek which is the Dura Ace model.

Weights for both are given the same if you look through the listings on bike-discount.de (both cheaper too).
(edit - awaiting delivery of pair of Aksiums I ordered earlier from them at £113!)
