Do any of you good people know if Maxxis Detonator tyres are just re-branded Michelin tyres, because they are just as bad for punctures and a harsh ride.. I've just replaced them on my second ride on the new bike and gone to the old faithful Conti Gatorskins.

They are not the best. I had them on a bike I bought a while back. They were quite skittish so changed them straight away. They don't have a lot of puncture protection by the looks of things.

The Maxxis brand is part of Cheng Shin Tyres based in Taiwan.
I had some "Chengers" 26" slick tyres on my MTB back in the mid 90's.
They were cheap and lasted for ages....atrocious in the wet!
