i gave up surf club after 9 years because the parents couldn't be bothered to help out and wash and put away surf boards at the end of sessions .we would ask if they could help out in the water or on the beach to help run some of the games to make it safer for they kids but they were all to busy . you would say to the kids they couldn't leave until the parents picked them up but most would say not to worry as they were in the pub on the beach and were told to walk over to them .

I really miss being a parent helper with the cubs. Sadly, I have a revolting turbo toddler who made it impossible to pull my weight once the older one moved up to scouts. I was too busy chasing him as he took off in search of mayhem. When he joins beavers, I imagine I'll become a parent helper again. Some of us appreciate the leaders, honest.

I left my Cub pack for the same reason. I did seven years and noticed a change in parents attitude towards us , I became there member of staff , there lacky.Im no class warrior but it was the middle class parents who treated us the worse. The district could not be bothered, as long as I stayed that's all they cared for.
The Scout Association is petrified because of the ticking time bomb of the sexual abuse. By there own admission they get targeted by Paedophiles' , and struggle
to route them out. It will blow the whole thing apart and leave them broke.
I had a great time , but enough was enough so I left and joined the Royal British Legion to help out in the village ....and there bloody grateful for the help.
