McGregor has invited Mayweather to fight in the octogon but that will never happen.

the equivalent would be a world champion boxer take on a retired 40 year old McGregor, who is 12lb lighter than the boxer.

The boxer would probably lose but make a decent contest of it. A bit like last night, which I have only read about on BBC, but it sounds like it was all over after round 3 in terms of a contest.

I guess we can all wait 11 years for that next exciting encounter.

I got the impression mayweather went easy to keep the large Irish crowd happy for the first few rounds.
He's a class boxer and deserve the title of greatest.....i think

it took to rounds 4 and 5 for Mayweather to get to grips with McGregors style and McGregor landed some good shots but in the end it went as expected but not as easy for Mayweather as most expected.

Just watching Frank Warren...on BBC..brilliant,he has a point..

A bit disappointed with mcgregor after all the hype.I know mma is usually over really quick but i was surprised how quickly he got exhausted.

Love him or loath him it went the way of most mayweather fights which is suss the opponent out for the first couple of rounds and then put in the plan.

it would depend on how long the fight stayed standing, the boxer always has a chance, once it goes to the floor then it becomes the MMA fighters domain, there have been professional boxers fight MMA and have lost once they go to the floor, the grappling is a skill which becomes difficult to learn and adapt to if you spent your career boxing.
.
the fight wasn't over in 3 rounds, McGregor won rounds 1,2,3...4 &5 where 50-50, 6 Mayweather, 7 was close, 8 Mayweather but still close, 9 McGregor was fatiguing visibly and Mayweather stepped up and was picking off McGregor 10. Mayweather continued from 9 and the fight got stopped.
.
I thought it was a good fight, with McGregor being more competitive than most expected..... Mayweather kept turning his back which was strange and McGregor kept dipping into some MMA notably hitting Mayweather in the back of the head when Mayweather turned his back on him.
I enjoyed it but the best man won, shame as I wanted McGregor to win but thats combat sports for you.

Interesting that the official judges scored it quite differently. Of the nine rounds they scored it was 6-3, 8-1, 8-1
All three judges gave McGregor Round 1. After that two judges gave every round to Mayweather. The other judge gave rounds two and three to Mc Gregor, then every round after that to Mayweather

Not saying their scoring is right and yours is wrong. But that's the official scoring

I caught some of the show on YouTube this morning.

Conor didn't look out of place in the ring, but Mayweather was clearly the better fighter.

Floyd didn't always look good - I saw rounds six onwards where he seemed to be giving McGregor a lot of free shots, and a lot of good ones landing.

Round 9 was the end for Conor, completely outclassed and taking a hammering - Im surprised it got to round 10.

In summary, McGregor did well, but unsurprisingly was outclassed by the only pro boxer in the ring.

boxing judges scored for the boxer, theres no way Mayweather took rounds 2 and 3, most everyone else thought McGregor took 1,2,and 3......4 and 5 were either way and they went for the boxer but thats not surprising, and probably right but no way was it only 1 round to McGregor.

I thought McGregor took 1,2 & 3 but 4 & 5 definitely Mayweather.
