35,000 bikes already use the space, outnumbering cars BY MORE THAN 2x and they want to close it off to cars so MORE bikes can use it.

Perhaps the scheme could be funded by some form of levy, or charge if you will, on motorists who use congested roads during peak hours. I think I'm talking about a 'Peak Hours Congestion Charge'. Now that would be a popular scheme!
