Mechanical Disc Brake "in/out" Adjuster

Hi All,
I have a very simple / daft question as usual
I appear to have somehow lost the Red adjuster "wheel" that goes on the Avid BB5 back brake on my Boardman Hybrid Comp bike . It was very hard to adjust the in/out anyway as I never seemed to be able to grip it properly.
Question is , does it do anything other than make it easier to turn the adjuster "bolt" to bring the pads in and out , it won't effect my braking at all will it?
Presume I can just use an allen key to adjust now , if I can get one long enough to go through my spokes and reach it?

You are correct.

All it does is turn the bolt easily (except it doesn't) without tools

Chuck it into your nearest recycling centre and buy a pair of TRP Spyres.
