Meldon Road Bike?

Can anyone enlighten on the below listed bike please? Branded as Meldon on eBay, with 531 frame and forks. I can’t find any information.

Suntour Cyclone and 531 tubing… top line stuff, and it looks to have been well cared for. I’d buy that in a second and consider it a bargain.

I have two bikes from this era, one with Cyclone, one with Campagnolo Nuevo Record. The Suntour stuff is miles better.

a ride on a bike like this will you have wondering if we’ve come all that far.

For the price of a car shop BSO that is an absolute steal.

I don't ride anymore, but if it was closer I'd be tempted to buy it just to sit and look at it.

The seller informed me that the Meldon brand, as such, was the name of his cycle shop and the frame was built by May Cycles.
Intrigued to see it in the skin and hear more specific details.

As in Ian May Cycles ?

If so should have an IMC prefixed frame number on the bottom bracket

Thanks for that. I suspect that’s the likely origin, and it gives me a most valuable tool to understand the bike.

The bike does not have a IM frame number. In fact, possibly no frame number.
Hmmmmm………but then I read that not all of his frames carried numbers. Confusing.

Cut out lugs, over BB cable guides, long dropouts, no brazed on shifter bosses, Cinelli MC fork crown, nutted brakes. Seems like a nice mid 70’s jobby so in good nick.

Lots of builders could turn these out for sale in shops with their decals on. Carter and Hall bike shop for example
