I must need my coffee, I hadn't considered that "of course it is good for the skin" angle until you mentioned it.

after years working on the farm, practically bathing in diseasel on a daily basis, the skin on my knuckles now starts cracking in mid-October and needs moisturiser from then to March/April. If I skip a day with the moisturiser, it becomes very painful and soon starts bleeding, so I slap Norwegian formula or something similar on daily.

Nothing dries out the skin and causes it to crack than a month lambing, you would of thought with it being warm and damp inside a ewe it wouldn't be a problem but trust me you need your Norwegian formula for that month (and as it was developed for North Sea fishermen it makes you weel 'ard)

Nothing wrong with a bit of moisturiser I use it daily even though I only shave a couple of times a week (if that).

I'd rather have a soft supply face, then a dry flaky one.

A couple of years ago I used some as the normally-greasy skin on my face got very dry and flakey after weeks of riding in the freezing cold, wind and rain.

Now that I shave with straight & DE razors, I use one of my many aftershave balms after my daily shave and that suffices. The shaving soaps and creams I use are pretty good at keeping my skin fairly well-conditioned anyway, and using proper razors rather than these multi-bladed monstrosities means my skin isn't irritated any more either.

No, of course I don't, I am guessing it must be the "London lot" which are voting yes. :girl:

Barnet,
I use a moisturiser every few days as I have dry skin anyway, and cycling in this weather does not help. I also work outside and the sun and wind does it's worst.

Yes, I use Neutrogena moisturiser for men. I have exceptionally dry skin and become Mr. Flaky in the winter otherwise. My hands crack and bleed this time of year so I need to keep that in check with a prescription cream wash and Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Hand Cream.

I also cleanse and tone once a day before moisturising. Don't laff.
