Merlin Racing Cycles - looking for info

Hi, I have bought the following bike for my singlespeed project and was wondering if anyone could offer me some information on the frame? Also, tips on restoration would be great as it's rusty and has a lovely homemade white bit!:

I had one of these bikes. I have been told it was made in 1938 or '39. Mine was flam blue with Olympic rings. The brand was bought out by Bob Jackson of Leeds some time afterwards. They continued to make bikes under the brand then discontinued it. Bob Jackson had transfers about 6 yrs ago so may still have them.

I really liked the bike and only gave it away to a good home because it was too big for me and I thought at the time that the frame had been damaged.

It will be a classy looking bike if you restore it as it was. Please post some pictures if you do.
