Mersey Roads 24hr National Championship 2023

It's this weekend. I'm supporting a clubmate. Michael Hutchinson is riding (his first 24 - he says he's looking forward to it). Anyone else up there?

Will look out for the results. Some of the distances are mind blowing, over 500 miles. It would be a challenge for me and a lot of people to do such a distance in one day in a car!

With the weather and the restricted* course this year I don't think we'll see any records broken. I'm happy to be proved wrong.

*roadworks have forced a last-minute change.

One of my mates is down to ride it. His PB is just over 527 for a 24. Will be interested to see how he gets on. Takes a special mentality to go into a dark place and block out the pain on long TT's.

Roads south of Whitchurch. It's stopped raining for a short while. Party atmosphere at Prees roundabout with gazebos, tents, and folk cheering and ringing bells.

It's foul weather here. Night circuit in the rain. Pete is suffering.

The rain & wind got to him and he packed. We had to warm him with blankets and coffee before shoving everything (including him) back in the car and returning home. Good luck to those still on the road.

I am not surprised - it looked horrid. It would be hard enough in good weather!
