No, not that one...the other one... the bearded beer-hunting Yorkshire Lithuanian Jew one..

One of the first to treat beer writing with any great seriousness, his "Great Beers of Belgium", in particular, is terrific stuff.

Anyhow, here's what the Times had to say about him..

Unfortunately, I suspect this may not have been written by a beer lover (the "De Konnick" (sic) spelling is a bit of a blunder). Nevertheless, a decent enough introduction to the man. You can check out his own writings on his website...http://michaeljacksonthebeerhunter.blogspot.com/

I've found his books on whisky invaluable over the years.

I shall have a not-so-wee dram in his memory later...
