Microsoft Office for £39

A full version of Office is apparently available to any students or academics with a .ac email address for £39.

As I am neither I don't qualify but thought it might be of interest to others.

Star Office is free, just as good and as far as I know fully compatable.

Or try Open Office - opens all MS Office docs AFAIK.

And is true of a great deal of other software. Your university or college (sometimes) will sell many different software for cheaper whether it be Microsoft Office or SPSS.

Software4students, standard office 2007, £35, no need to prove you're a student. (Though technically! you have to be)
I made about £300 reselling those on ebay in the summer before they cottoned on to my scheming. People really need to learn to hunt around a bit!

They've been around for ages, you can buy them in shops.

My son uses Open Office on his Mac and hasn't had any problems. I don't like the new version of MS Office, it seems to me that they just changed things for the sake of it and you have to learn a whole new format. It's also a pain as far as backward compatibility is concerned.

Helpful stuff chaps. I might upgrade my PC after Xmas , when I hope they will be giving them away on the high street , and I don't want to shell out for software.

Whatever you do - don't get Office 2007 - unless you are absolutely sure, used it at work or something.

The totally unecessary changes Microsoft introduced killed my productivity for months when i changed from Office 2003 in my last job.

Now I'm self-employed it's back to 2003 version and MUCH prefer it.
