And is true of a great deal of other software. Your university or college (sometimes) will sell many different software for cheaper whether it be Microsoft Office or SPSS.

They've been around for ages, you can buy them in shops.
My son uses Open Office on his Mac and hasn't had any problems. I don't like the new version of MS Office, it seems to me that they just changed things for the sake of it and you have to learn a whole new format. It's also a pain as far as backward compatibility is concerned.
Helpful stuff chaps. I might upgrade my PC after Xmas , when I hope they will be giving them away on the high street , and I don't want to shell out for software.
