Not having a gear cable to unhook ought to make wheel removal easier.

The axle nuts on my Alfine 11 need to be nipped up fairly tight to stop them coming undone.

My advice would be to buy - and carry - a proper 15mm spanner.

Buying a set is better value, but if you have no use for the others an individual one from Halfords will do the job:

how easy is it to remove the wheel? Looks abit tricky...
Want to change the tyres.

As you have the posh Di2 I'm afraid I can't be of much help.

Presumably you grasp that the 15mm nuts are on the end of a solid axle, so all you have to do is slacken those.

Watch for any lip in the coloured washer, that needs to go back in the same place.

Nor sure if you have had discs before, but the rotor will come out from between the pads.

Thing to watch there is not to squeeze the brake when the wheel's out.

There might be a bit of coloured plastic in the accessories to stuff between the pads, if not, a folded bit of cereal packet will do.

Hopefully there's some instructions about disconnecting the Di2 hub.

Difficult to see from the pics, but does it have horizontal drop-outs?

If so, you will have to slacken those inwards to demount the chain.

The Alfine 11 can be surprisingly picky about chain tension, so try to put the chain it back tensioned roughly how it was.

Thanks for your help, will give it a try next weekend once my new tyres have been delivered.
