my first ever migraine was during my GCSE history exam... thought i was going blind

used to get them quite a bit about 10 years ago now but not had one for a long time and don't miss them at all.

cant stand people sticking things in my face cos it's a bit like the eye going during a migraine !!!

in sure mine are/were stress related.

How did it go FF?

I suffered bad with migranes in my teens, once a week on average at least, I'd have to lie down in a darkened room; once a month a really big one would hit and I was pretty out of it all day and couldn't stand up. It progressively got worse, blacking out, fits etc I had a few scans but the docs couldn't really figure it out. All the scans could say was that I had a brain (they didn't say it was working ;) ) Fortunately though it seemed to disappear in my 20s; maybe its a teenager thing

I used to have regular migraines starting a few years ago. However, after I took up cycling they became less regular, and I haven't had one since about this time last year.

I would get flashy lights in my eyes, and they would spread until I was almost completely blind. (I still feel ill even thinking about those flashy lights!)

After about 20 minutes they would fade away, and then I would have a really bad headache, and I would avoid lights and sounds at all costs.

I'm not 100% sure on what causes them, but luckily I found a cure
I down as much water as I can, then eat something really sugary, then I go to sleep, and wake up feeling fine  (normally after sleeping off a migraine I would feel like crap for the rest of the day, and the day after)

Well the Doc checked me out, BP low as usual, looked in the eyes, talked about the symptoms (much as others describe here) and said it might be Migrane but she'd get me an appointment with an opthalmologist just in case.
Tolde her I had an eye test last week and my eyes were deemed 'very healthy' but I'm getting an appointment nonetheless.
God bless the NHS.

Sounds like the first thing they tried with me, my eye sight was perfect at the time too. It might just be coincidence later on in life my eyesight did fail and I've always asked for them to prescribe a minimum tint but since I've worn glasses I've not had a migrane; I kinda wish my eyesight had failed earlier!
