Milan any good for swanky weekend away?

Definitely. If you like history, opera, museums, art galleries and churches then Milan is well worth a visit.

Apparently, they have football stadium that some people like to wander round as well...

The outskirts of the city are very industrial but the city centre is a real jewel. It's compact and very easy to find your way around.

Plus there are some really good restaurants and bars...

That's what I was going to say - been to Italy once, loved Milan hated Venice! But I'm weird like that, had no expectation of one and high expectations of the other.
