I agree that 'militant' isn't really the right word. That's a term I'd ascribe to the likes of Critical Mass type riders who potentially seek aggro. And I'm not entirely sure such people exist.

'Rude' is better.

I am a militant cyclist but that is because I cannot tolerate other cyclists bad behaviour. As Simon says (hee hee) rude cyclists seems to be a more appropriate term.

To be honest I am waiting for winter temperatures to kill them off and make them go back to their turbo's and then I shall have the road to myself ^_^

I doubt I have one in 10,000 who are plonkers.

If I had one in 100, that would probably be even more cause for turning the mirror on my own riding.
I think you are either very lucky in where you ride, or you have a very high threshold for the amount of idiocy that is required for a driver to be considered a plonker.

Having said that, one of the potentially useful things about posting videos is the possibility of getting feedback from other, more experienced cyclists on what you might have done better to avoid the situation. And I don't mean vague comments like: "you need to hold the mirror up to your own cycling", which is worse than useless as it has the potential for putting off people who are constantly doing that anyway from cycle commuting altogether.

How do you determine who is a "more experienced" cyclist?

Well, I don't think it is necessary to come up with a definition of "more experienced" in order to read the suggestions of others and and use your common sense to decide which ones might be useful. But since you ask, I would consider that anyone who repeatedly comes up with what I consider to be good advice, that I hadn't already thought of, is likely to be "more experienced" than I am.

Id imagine cycling/commuting in some our busiest urban areas cyclists will be jostling for what little space cars leave us on the roads anyway so inevitably you will meet rude people but id say theres different types of cyclists commuting anyway.

Anyone that appears to ride with half a brain, at least makes an attempt to signal and appears to be considerate to others?

So, has anyone fitted that description whi has responded to your videos?
