Went to see Milton Jones tonight.

He asked if there were any cyclists in... a few muted mutters, then put up a picture of a red traffic light and asked if everyone knew what that was... how the audience laughed....

If I remember correctly he's the guy with the repetitive "your house stinks" joke. Asks a question like "Any students in tonight?" and when the audience responds tells them, "Your house stinks." Repeat several times with a different question. I don't find him very funny.

He didn't use that particular line, but I was tremendously disappointed.

Milton's typical of the type of comedian being churned out by shows like Mock The Week.

He's made his Radio 4 shows for years without becoming particularly famous, partly because the occasional very, very funny lines get lost in 25 minutes of tedious mediocrity. But on a heavily edited panel show they can just keep in the good bits and he looks like a genius.

Spot on, I'd not come across him until seeing him on Mock the Week and then looked for other stuff online, a big disappointment....but his good bits are very good.

People tend to find entertainment in the perceived faults of others (and conversely, people don't like their faults pointed out, however accurate the depiction of the fault may or may not be). In a way, its similar to the show Derren Brown did a few weeks back when he got an audience to choose what happens to a member of the public - each time they chose the option which would negatively affect the victim. Its very lowbrow, but its a way of making the vast majority of the audience feel part of a group.

You could do a similar "gag" with drivers, and show a picture of a speed limit and no one would laugh.

After that gag he should immediately ask if there are any pedestrians in and then show a picture of a pelican crossing little red man which would show up the audience's hypocricy while they're in mid laugh... humour can help people appreciate irony.

Went to see him earlier this year with the wife, kids and my mom. He was brilliant!!! Haven't laughed so much in ages.
I am biased though as we are all big fans of his radio shows and they keep us entertained when we go on holidays. I highly recommend them.
Not seen any Mock the Week since Frankie B left though.

I quite like him, although 30 minutes of his radio show is about right for me.
