Sounds like too big for my shed.

It's quite compact. Pretty much the same as this (later) model.
Comes with stand, tooling, face plate, independent and self centering chucks, screw cutting gears etc.

I used mine for making small parts for when I raced motorcycles - spacers, footrests, bushes etc. The lathe was used quite a lot for truing crankshafts.
The miller was used mainly for machining 2 stroke heads.
It's amazing how many friends you get when you have a lathe.

Anything mechanical has things that can be manufactured on a home lathe.

I was being facetious, I thought everyone knew what a lathe was used for. I guess that is because most people I know are into mechanical engineering, I forget that sometimes. Sorry!

The home made 50 cal cannon I turned up was fun!

A friend of mine has a brace (at least) of Proper Land Rovers. He also has a double garage with a lathe, a milling machine, pillar drill, welding kit etc etc. I think there is some correlation between these two facts.

I last used a lathe in 2004, when I changed profession. I have never used a cnc lathe and wouldn't know how to use one. All my turning career was done on old fashion, traditional lathe.
