I’m always tempted if honked from behind to slowly and deliberately dismount and check my bike over in front of them, presuming that they are alerting me to an urgent safety matter.

In reality I try to give them a smile and a cheery wave and carry on as before. I like to think my days of getting angry with impatience rather than dangerous driving are largely behind me.

There are some junctions that are just nasty/badly designed/not thought of cyclists. Alternative routes may be best in these cases, but sometimes there is no other choice.

Option 1 as all above is how I too approach them. Keep sharp eyes on the traffic from the left, hold your wide position and keep up with the traffic if you can.
