Minimalist Bike

Spotted this one whilst shopping in High Wycombe Morrison. Handlebar made from wooden dowel, just front brakes and fixed gear. Tyres are from Wellmann no markings on the frame. Should be ok for riding on the flat - hills here might be a problem.....

Looks like a genuine hispter's "whip" to me! Fashion disaster.

There is a badge on the front of the frame if your interested in the frame but its just some old steel conversion. Look at the rear dropouts.

No foot retention? O.o Maybe its a wannabee's single speed and not a fixed wheel, seem to be a lot of them about, idiots riding single speed with no rear brake to get that fashionable 'fixie' thing going on, whilst clearly having no clue why fixed riders only have one brake.

At least the wooden dowel is a nice twist on the silly cut down handlebar theme though.

quite a crazy mix there, I havent seen a cottered crankset in a while especially on a bike with aero rims?!? It looks like a very old steel three pinned campag or a williams c34, both must be 50's-60's!

It's not what I'd build myself, and it is self consciously fashionable, but the frame looks in nice nick. It's a Carlton, and I can see a GB forged alloy stem and Raleigh group chainwheel with detachable three pin ring. There's the soul of a nice bike in there and enough original parts to bring it back in the future...

That is not a VeloSolo Squeeze bar. They have domed ends, and are not made of wood!

The bar was definitely wood but if you look closer it's some sort of "laminated" dowel, a flat middle bit and two round "halves".
