Actually, I was more thinking of filling your water bottle with laphroaig. It's more like fast-freeze for your brain...

Think you should bring some on the next fnrttc...

But yeh, tomorrow, I either go fixie on slicks, or use the tourer with 32c's and mudguards.. but, surely, the snow will get compacted under the mudguards (and no, am not fussing in taking them off) and then the wheels lock up?

Pah, am West London, snow is never a problem here.. You lot are all causing too much fuss, baaahh!
lol. I may go into work REALLY early and leave at 4. As long as it's not icy - which it won't be then, or even at 5 tbh, I'll be alright. Trains are always a 'mare when it snows.
I was planning on going in half an hour later then usual and leaving at lunchtime

 I've still not mustered up the courage to flip my SS to fix.

Given I ride fixed most of the time I guess I may be biased, but I find riding fixed is great in ice/snow. I only ride with a front brake, and seldom have to use it, so less chance of an accidental lock up and spill. Riding my hybrid, even being aware that its easier to lock up, it still happens.

Still going everyday, on the MTB with the spiked claw Continental tyres, which are brilliant, taking little longer on the 15 miles each way due to the cold and increased tyre contact.

Very very cold today, had to keep moving my fingers all the time to keep them from going numb.

I have been wondering just how bad it has to get before I resort to another form of transport, but lets not panic !!!!!!

 My commuting's been fine so far this year. The next few days might have to be on PT, but we'll see. I had planned on trying fixed riding during the Christmas period but wimped out. I might give it a go later in the year. Maybe.

My current thinking I'd rather be concentrating on balancing observation than my legs but I'll see in the warmer weather, it may be more natural than I think

Thanks for the offer. When the weather is warmer - end of February April? :sun:

I use fixed all winter, like you I find them great for the bad weather, I have both back and front brakes on mine, I find using the legs is a great way to control my speed when its slippery, and I'll often combine the legs with the back brake to control my speed on a descent.

Well we finally have proper snow here in Ipswich. I failed to pick up a pair of SPD pedals for my old MTB last night so came in on the singlespeed. It was.... fine! A little scary on some of the hills on less used roads but I was pretty much fine.

There was a moment when I felt like the bravest and coolest cyclist on earth, until an old fella on a sit up and bed bipped by me with a bored look on his face!

I'm still going to get my MTB up and running though; but I'm chobbled if I'm going to ride with flats!
