But I'm a hard hearted cow sometimes.
You are right though, most of it is just hypocritical crap.
But I'm a hard hearted cow sometimes.
I also find this pink ribbon stuff a bit sick. It's like people are making some sort of ritual celebration out of the whole thing.
The problem with that is that between 560 and 1,035 children have gone missing ever year for the past decade. That leaves a lot of people who might be needing emotional support who might be feeling excluded or worse because of this focus on one child.I think the pink ribbons are more a show of solidarity with April's relatives. They need every ounce of emotional support at this very difficult time.
I find that hard to believe Arch.
We've never met and the interweb can be a playground for false personae.
But I give you a special 5 star, superb most of the time - and I suspect (and hope) your hard hardest hours are still nicer than most people's average behaviour.
I agree - news coverage is a pile of s*** BTW
No, they're a self indulgent display of meaningless tosh. It's designer grief.I think the pink ribbons are more a show of solidarity with April's relatives. They need every ounce of emotional support at this very difficult time.
It's something they can do when they can't do much else. No, they're a self indulgent display of meaningless tosh. It's designer grief.
It's showing off, nothing more. It's something they can do when they can't do much else.
Stop worrying about the social norms and follow the anti-social ones. We have better cake. It's just one of those social norms that children are seen as more precious than adults, and if you don't instinctively feel that, you feel you're odd.
There is an ongoing thread about me and my current illness and I did think to myself that there must lots of other people on CycleChat who are suffering (or healing) in silence, so why do I merit my own thread? It bewildered me a bit, and like Norm, I think about all the people suffering pain who might feel "Why is that more important than my pain over my mother/sister/husband, just because it's a little kid?"
There was one case like this a couple of years ago which I had the 'inside line' on, I was astounded at how much the media guessed and reported as fact, and what effect that had on those involved who knew the truth. How much more carp reporting goes on where they are factually wrong, but millions of viewers will listen/take notice without question?
What colour ribbon would you like us to wear for you Colin ?There is an ongoing thread about me and my current illness and I did think to myself that there must lots of other people on CycleChat who are suffering (or healing) in silence, so why do I merit my own thread?
Then I thought about all of the GWS messages that I had been getting and I decided that it made sense to just update people in one place rather than making lots of phonecalls and sending scores of texts.
I have been trying to make the GWS thread useful by explaining what happened to me and how to try to prevent it happening to others.
But yes - I agree with you! This is looking like a tragedy for the family and the local community but death is all around us, all the time and most of it goes unnoticed by the media.
Dark red - the colour of my clots? What colour ribbon would you like us to wear for you Colin ?
