That's cos we're only on page 5. The thread is young and time is endless.

Kudos to whoever said Ned Overend. I'll also add John Tomac from the same era and raise the stakes further by suggesting Major Taylor.

Worth pointing out that all of the above are already legends, so not 'missing' or 'forgotten' in any sense. Anyone who has had any success or notoriety in the world of cycling will have already been documented on the internet somewhere.

The story goes that, later on in life, Harris was riding a local time trial when he went through a red light. A policeman pulled him over and uttered the immortal phrase: "Who do you think you are then? Reg Harris?"
I thought that story was about Stirling Moss

Alfredo Binda, he won the Giro d'Italia four times his first win was 1925, he was so good that a local newspaper offered him cash not to enter the 1930 Giro d'Italia, the press wanted a new rider to win the Giro and they felt that Binda would have won it again, he took the money and entered the Tour de France instead where he one four stages. In total he won 120 races. When he retired from racing he became the Italian Team manager, Coppi was one of his riders.
Definitely a legend.

Dick Poole was a legend - He was a coach who ran youth week when I went in 1976. He gave us a talk on how he broke the End-to-Ed record. Awe struck
I read about him he ran into a lot of trouble down here in the West Country, I think he had an accident which cost him quite a lot of time, impressive that he managed to break the record. I had a look at wiki and they mention that he was a few yards short of another record, apparently he took a different route in Scotland and just missed making the completed distance set by Reg Randall.

Are you looking for 'clean' riders to add to your list?

Milkfloat, Its been bugging me all day so I have to ask, what's with the milk float, I'm only asking because my dad was a milk man for Unigate, I was a milk boy at the age of 6, I spent most of my youth in those little electric bumper cars, I well remember the wooden bench seat and the cold storage box at the back of the cab. No seat belts or doors, I became quite skilled at jumping out whilst the thing was still moving, grab a number of silver and gold tops and it was job done. I really miss the old milk float.
Sorry for going off topic.

Absolutely nothing to do with the real thing. It was a nick name from my previous life as a hockey player. I had two speeds, on or off, nothing in between and neither were fast. I understand that the real thing allows you to moderate your speed so perhaps it was a crap nickname.
