reading through loads of stuff on specs on other makes of bikes it seems like really good value to other ones

:welcome: Welcome. Mizani bikes, never heard of them tbh. Looking at GOOGLE results they are only supplied via mainstream mail order routes, never great imo, unless your dealing with WIGGLE or similar online cycling companies.

If I had £150 to buy a bike I would honestly not even consider buying anything new. Buy used, check out ebay and such places and you'll be surprised at what £150 can buy you - nothing depreciates quite like a bicycle

If you see something that floats your boat post a link up here and someone will always give you, (their) honest opinion.

Thanks for the reply

I have looked at used bikes and for £150 havent seen anything yet which takes my fancy

I'm a complete novice on bikes and have had to read up on the net to find out whats what

for £150 the Mizani seems to be quite a high spec,as you say though they only seem to sell via mail order and no-one has posted any reviews

I'll keep an open mind and keep looking

I dont want to spend a fortune just yet as I am looking for a reasonable bike to pootle (love that word  ) around on to keep fit

If I get more into it I'll buy a top spec bike

I want a light weight ali bike, preferrably with EZ fire shifters as I dont fancy the grip shift gear change

any pointers welcome

Looking at the spec it would be ok (all the mechs and shifters are clunky but effective - I have similar on one of my bikes). It's built on older technology in that it has a screw on freewheel and quill stem, but they are perfectly able to fulfil the role and I've done Hadrians Cycleway on a bike of similar spec (except I have a rigid fork).

If you are not going to be seriously off-roading on it, then the suspension is going to be more of a hindrance than a help, as it is heavier than a rigid fork and also bounces up and down sapping energy, but as a general bike to ride it looks reasonably decent.

Thanks for the info

TBH I thought the suspension was going to be a benefit, but if its going to be a hinderance I may look at one without

I read somewhere the bike weighed 13kg,not sure if that is considered light or heavy for this style of bike.

well I've trawled the net for the last 4 hours and cant find anything used in my budget that fits what I want

I dont want to go much over that at the moment as I have some major £££s going out in the next month or two

I may bite the bullet and order the Mizani
