Mobi accident

I was doing a bit of decorating yesterday and knocked my two mobile phones off a shelf into a pot of emusion paint.

They went right under an I fished them out right away.

I was then suddenly faced with the dilemma as to how to rescue them. Wiping would push the paint in the gaps and washing with water may mess up the insides.

I gave them a bit of a scrape off and then ran them under the tap and brushed them with a wet paintbrush but lots of paint got in the holes. I did not hold out much hope for them but took them apart to dry out.

Both are now back together and working fine. but I have had to wind up the volume a bit and just need to make a call to check the mic works still. They look a bit odd with white in the cracks and do look a bit grey where they were black.

One of the cyclists at work got in yesterday to find his shampoo bottle had broken and his iphone and blackberry were both full of shampoo. Last I heard the iphone had started to get very hot and was in the office fridge ;) of course you can't open them and pull the battery out...I hope the building is still there on Monday

Last week I dropped my electric toothbrush into the loo while urinating - who says men can't multitask? - and had to decide whether to flush first and risk losing it, or..

Well done for saving the phones. Had a full pint of beer spilled over my HTC Magic, fortunately I was quick enough to pop the back off and remove the battery. Dried out ok.

My mate used to regularly leave his phone on the roof of his car, drive off, rattle, bump, smash, as he saw it bounce into the road

Paint on your phone is a terrible way to kill it. A horrible end but a lovely finish

One is a cheap £20 job from Vodafone - but as it had the buttons on the outside it was the bigger problem.
Other is a Sony Ericsson with a flip out bottom section. (Just looked on the box and it says W350i)
As the paint was so thick it did not go too far into the case and missed the keypad as it was covered by the flap bit.

Neither are anything special as they go these days but as I am impoverished lately I would not be keen on even paying out to replace the £20 job.

Someone I know used a coffee mug as an impromtu tripod for his digital camera, with predictable results. Luckily, he was a lab assistant and was able to whack it in the lab dehumdifier....

Working in a lab has its advantages

Many's the time I've dried my shoes in the precisely controlled oven conditions of a £150,000 instrument
