Mobile HiFi ideas please

Hi all,
I'm wanting to put together a mobile HiFi - the type you see on a Critical Mass ride.
I have an old (AC) HiFi and a child trailer to pull it around in.
My dilemma is what do you need/use for a power source ? And how does it work ?
I'm assuming a car battery ?
And what else ? MP3 or similar to store/play songs through HiFi ?
Your ideas, thoughts and recommendations much appreciated.

A typical Critical Mass party ride will be quieter than the typical 6pm motoring queues it replaces!

How about a battery amplifier something like a Roland Mobile cube, should be able to attach your MP3 somehow etc?
