The other day I saw a good example of why hands free are not terribly sensible either. I was on the bus in a traffic jam. Car pulls alongside and I have plenty of time to observe his end of a very animated conversation. He is waving his arms in the air to try to make his point. The only time he touches the steering wheel is to bash his hands on it to empasise something. Luckily we were moving very slowly at the time.

The usual technique round these parts is to hold the phone to your left ear using your right hand. This makes your action invisible, apparently.

Ah, you see, there's a reason for that. The brain and body are crosswired, so that the left side of the brain 'operates' the right side of the body. By using the left hand and right ear or vice versa, you are cancelling each of them out, and rendering yourself invisible.

Or not...;)
